EC Wall Track VESA Adaptors

VESA stands for Video Electronics Standards Association. This association is made up of over 300 member companies who set the technical specification standards for the video electronics market in order to enable the industry to remain stable and shape the future of video components and electronics.

One of the standards defined by VESA is the VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS). The MIS is a system that determines how flat screen monitors and other electronic devices are mounted all over the world. The MIS is based on a hole pattern that is incorporated into the monitor's design. This hole pattern in generally located on the rear of the monitor and can be rectangular or square. The lateral and vertical measurements, in millimeters, between the hole centers establishes a monitor's VESA MIS. For example, the 100 x 100 mm hole pattern is 100 mm between the hole centers of the pattern when measured left to right or up and down (but not diagonally). Many monitors come with an included stand or mount already attached that is often concealing the VESA hole pattern.

The size of the screen and weight of the monitor assign it one of six VESA MIS labels. Most home or office devices fall into one of three VESA MIS sizes. Ergomart provides mounting solutions for the following:

VESA MIS D is for monitors weighing up to 30.8 pounds and with a diagonal screen size between 12 and 22.9 inches. These monitors typically have either 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm hole patterns.

VESA MIS E is for monitors weighing up to 50 pounds and with a diagonal screen size between 23 and 30.9 inches. VESA MIS E monitors should have a 100 x 200 mm hole pattern.

VESA MIS F is the standard for monitors weighing up to 250 pounds and with a diagonal screen size spanning a range from from 31 up to 90 inches. The corresponding VESA hole patterns also cover a wide range, with 200 x 200 mm, 200 x 400 mm, and 400 x 600 mm being among the most commonly used.

VESA plate measurements are always described in millimeters per the industry standards. To determine your VESA hole pattern, measure the distance between the screw holes on the rear of the monitor. The chart below shows the inch conversion for millimeter measurements.

100 millimeter 3.937 inches About 3 and 15/16ths inches
200 millimeters 7.874 inches About 7 and 7/8ths inches
300 millimeters 11.811 inches About 11 and 13/16ths inches
400 millimeters 15.748 inches About 15 and 3/4ths inches
500 millimeters 19.685 inches About 19 and 11/16ths inches
600 millimeters 23.622 inches About 23 and 5/8ths inches

Ergomart's most commonly used VESA adaptor is this "Star" VESA plate. It can be used with most small to mid-sized monitors with either a 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm VESA hole pattern. If the monitor's VESA hole pattern is recessed, an additional VESA Spacer hardware kit may be required.

This rectangular VESA adaptor is made for larger monitors with 100 x 200 mm VESA hole patterns. Ergomart's tilter mechanism is attached using the four central holes.

This 100 x 200 mm VESA adaptor is designed for heavier monitors and used with the PM80 Heavy-Duty Monitor Pole Mount. The two sets of square hole patterns in the center are used to attach the VESA plate to a dual tilter mechanism assembly.

200 x 200 mm VESA ADAPTOR

This square VESA adaptor is designed for a large monitor with a 100 x 200 mm, 120 x 180 mm, or 200 x 200 mm hole pattern. The three central hole patterns, 50 x 50 mm, 75 x 75 mm, and 100 x 100 mm, allow this adaptor to be attached to a mounting location. An additional VESA 75/100 adaptor is also required.

This 75 x 75 mm adaptor is attached using the single hole located in the center. It can be mounted to another bracket with a similar central hole, such as Ergomart's Monolok, allowing for landscape to portrait rotation of the monitor. It can also attach to a bracket with a slot, such as Ergomart's thin client CPU holder or the backbar on Monitor/Keyboard arms, which allow this sliding plate to be positioned at any height along the slot.

This 100 x 100 mm VESA adaptor uses the single hole in the middle to attach to a device. If attached to another bracket with a central hole, such as Ergomart's Monolok, the attached device can be rotated between portrait and landscape. The central hole can also be used to mount at a specific height on a bracket that includes a vertical slot, such as the backbar used on Ergomart's Monitor/Keyboard arms or a thin client CPU holder with mounting holes or slots in the front bracket.

This 100 x 200 mm VESA adaptor utilizes a central mounting hole to attach to other brackets with a similar hole, such as Ergomart's Monolok, which allows the monitor orientation to be changed between portrait and landscape. This central mounting hole can also be used with brackets that have a slot. It can be mounted at a desired height on brackets with a vertical slot, such as Ergomart's slotted thin client holders and the backbars of our Monitor/Keyboard arms.

200 x 400 mm VESA ADAPTOR

Drawing: 200 x 400 mm VESA adaptor plate

This 200 x 400 mm VESA adaptor plate can accommodate nine different VESA hole patterns. It interfaces with the 50 x 50 mm, 75 x 75 mm, 100 x 100 mm, 200 x 200 mm, 100 x 200 mm, 120 x 180 mm, 200 x 200 mm, 200 x 300 mm, and 200 x 400 mm VESA hole patterns. Some cases may require an additional 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm VESA adapter to interface with the 200 x 400 mm plate.

MSU4X6: VESA PATTERNS FROM 100 x 300 MM UP TO 400 X 600 MM

Drawing: 100 x 300 mm to 400 x 600 mm adjustable VESA adaptor plate

The MSU4X6 VESA plate attaches to a wide range of VESA hole patterns, from 100 x 300 mm all the way up to 400 x 600 mm. The image depicts the spacing between the holes and slots with the components disassembled for easier viewing. The hole patterns located on the central plate allow the MSU4X6 to interface with wall mounts or tilter mechanisms. In many cases, this requires the use of a smaller VESA adapter plate between the tilter mechanism or wall mount and the MSU4X6 adapter.

In the image above, the vertical monitor mounting slots are facing inwards, one of two orientations. The horizontal slots in these vertical brackets are aligned over the holes on the horizontal bar for various configurations.

When the vertical bars are turned outwards, the bracket can accommodate wider hole spacings that are often found on the back of larger LCDs, plasma monitors and TVs.

The vertical mounting slots allow the MSU4X6 to accommodate a wide range of large VESA mounting hole patterns, shown in the table above. It is important to note that the MSU4X6 VESA adapter bracket alone weighs 9 pounds and must be accounted for when attaching to arms which only support a certain weight range. For example, an arm with a weight range for monitors from 25 to 65 pounds would be reduced to 16 to 56 pounds when using the MSU4X6 bracket.
