VESA MOUNTING INFORMATION
THE VESA MONITOR STANDARDS EXPLAINED
Monitors with a VESA designation have specific metric screw holes in square or rectangular patterns utilized by most computer monitor and TV manufacturers. This insures compatibility between monitors and mounts that support them. VESA is an acronym for the Video Electronics Standards Association which is the governing body that drives standards and compatibility. This hole pattern is typically located on the back of a monitor. These hole patterns can be square or rectangular. The patterns are defined by the lateral and vertical measurements, in millimeters, between the hole centers. For example, the 75 x 75 mm hole pattern measures 75 mm between the hole centers of the pattern when measured across or up and down, not diagonally. "Out of the box" most monitors have an included stand or mount that may be removed to reveal a VESA standardized hole pattern.
VESA thread, pitch and pattern are defined by the size of the screen and weight of a monitor and is comprised of six ranges. The most common monitor sizes found in the home or workplace fall within three VESA designations. Ergomart offers mounting solutions within the following categories:
VESA MIS D is for monitors with a diagonal screen size between 12 and 22.9 inches and with a weight of up to 30.8 pounds. VESA MIS D monitors often either have 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm hole patterns.
VESA MIS E is for monitors with a screen size between 23 and 30.9 inches and a weight of up to 50 pounds. VESA MIS E compliant monitors should have a 100 x 200 mm hole pattern.
VESA MIS F is the standard for monitors with a diagonal screen size from 31 up to 90 inches and a weight of up to 250 pounds. Because VESA MIS F covers such a wide range of large monitor sizes, the VESA hole patterns associated with this group range in size as well. Generally 200 x 200 mm, 200 x 400 mm and 400 x 600 mm hole patterns are among the more common from this group.

WHAT ARE THE MEASUREMENTS IN INCHES?
VESA plate measurements are typically described in millimeters. These measurements are industry standards. You may measure the distance between the screw holes on the back of your monitor to determine your VESA hole pattern. The chart below converts the millimeter measurements into inches for your convenience:
75 millimeters | 2.953 inches | About 2 and 15/16ths inches |
100 millimeters | 3.937 inches | About 3 and 15/16ths inches |
200 millimeters | 7.874 inches | About 7 and 7/8ths inches |
300 millimeters | 11.811 inches | About 11 and 13/16ths inches |
400 millimeters | 15.748 inches | About 15 and 3/4ths inches |
500 millimeters | 19.685 inches | About 19 and 11/16ths inches |
600 millimeters | 23.622 inches | About 23 and 5/8ths inches |

The vertical mounting slots allow the MSU4X6 to accommodate a wide range of large VESA mounting hole patterns, shown in the table above. It is important to note that the MSU4X6 VESA adapter bracket alone weighs 9 pounds and must be accounted for when attaching to arms which only support a certain weight range. For example, an arm with a weight range for monitors from 25 to 65 pounds would be reduced to 16 to 56 pounds when using the MSU4X6 bracket.
