• The unique through arm wire management design of the SAA2718 creates an ultra clean appearance yet comes with one drawback: the arm tends to resist lateral rotation at the elbow joint as the payload is increased above 20 to 25 pounds. The articulating joint, where the lifting arm and forearm meet, has a hollow design to allow cables to run, unseen, through the joint. It is made up of a cylindrical bearing that performs well under most conditions. However, when the arm is loaded with heavier payloads increased friction can make the elbow joint difficult to rotate. If you anticipate the need to expand and collapse the arm frequently, we recommend we recommend Ergomart's SAA2415 arm for heavier loads and the SAA7000 monitor arm for lighter loads. If you plan to leave the arm stretched out or in the same retracted position as you raise and lower the arm, you will be pleased with the performance of the SAA2718. This arm is one of our most popular products and we do not wish to overstate the issue, but we do want to keep our customers informed about the nuances of the products we sell. We anticipate an upgrade to this component that will alleviate this issue by the second quarter of 2012.

If your monitor falls into a gray area, where tilter head specifications overlap, consider the following: monitor thickness (touch-screens especially tend to be front heavy and thicker), frequency of tilt adjustment desired and/or the added use of a thin client holder or bracket between the monitor and tilter.

Thicker monitors and touch screens weighted more toward the front create a greater lever force on the tilter head. If you plan to adjust the tilt frequently, opt for the stronger tilter head as it is will be easier to move up and down. If you plan to put the monitor at a fixed tilted position and rarely change it, then a the standard tilter head is usually a good choice.
